St Nicholas Anglican Church,
Redhouse, Port Elizabeth
Stained Glass Window with oxide painting and silver stain

New window commission, two stained glass window pairs. Depicting St Francis Preaching to the Animals and St Nicholas and the Children.

Inspired by the naive style of other stained glass windows in the church, I designed the two windows as being set within the natural environment of Redhouse Village. I included local fauna and the river with the  hills of the Swartkops Nature reserve in the background. I also referenced local traditions and activity's like sailing and the annual visit from father christmas that takes place on the local green the day before christmas.

It was important to situate the narrative of the windows in Redhouse because of the close knit nature of the community and because of the dedication of the windows to local members of the congregation.
Window frame and installation done by Zane Langer from IronWood Works a local company in Port Elizabeth
